The development of FIMS featured many internal and external stakeholder consultations and validation workshops as a way to ensure that the right datasets were being collected and fit the end-users needs. When launching the FIMS, the Minister for Fisheries stressed on the importance of data in the industry and of his appreciation for the team who managed to put together an efficient system in such a timely manner. He also highlighted the importance of transparency and fact that stakeholders, especially the general public would be able to access the data on FIMS.
FIMS was developed under the Third South West Indian Ocean Fisheries Governance and Shared Growth Project (SWIOFish3) and is accessible from the SFA website or through the following link https://sfa-fims.traseable.com/
