The Spanish Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the Seychelles, H.E., Mr. Manuel Salazar Palma, conducted a courtesy call on the Designated Minister and the Minister for Fisheries and the Blue Economy Mr. Jean-Francois Ferarri, on Tuesday at the Ministry, after presenting his credentials to President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House.
Through the European Union, Spain and Seychelles have a long standing business relationship in the tuna fishing industry.
The Minister used this opportunity to brief the Spanish Ambassador on various on-going fisheries project in the country, notably the development of the Fish Processing Zone on Zone 14, Ile du Port. In support of this development, the Minister has made a request for assistance to the Spanish government, for technical training of Seychellois individuals, in the field of electrical and electro-mechanical engineering, for effective transfer of knowledge and skills locally.
Both the Minister and the Ambassador have reiterated their support for continued efforts in sustainable fishing.
